5 hour layover in Tianfu airport— enough for self-transfer?

Other

Hi folks,

I will be in China in January, flying back to Europe from Chengdu Tianfu (TFU) airport at 2:30am on Jan 11.

I am considering visiting Hong Kong and booking a flight from Hong Kong to Chengdu that arrives at Tianfu airport at 9pm on Jan 10 using Sichuan Airlines. I imagine I would have to get my luggage, change terminals, check in my luggage again, and go through security.

Is that too much to get done in the 5.5 hours between landing in TFU from Hong Kong and leaving TFU? And is there too much risk of things going wrong? For example, what are the chances of delayed flights from HK to TFU? Also, will I have to go through any sort of immigration or visa process? I have a 10 year multi-entry visa and don’t need a visa for Hong Kong.

Many thanks in advance for your help!
