What is the most honest and accurate way to disclose my Psilocybin Mushroom involvement on the SF-86?
When i was in college, i grew a small quantity of psilocybin mushrooms for personal consumption. I did this with a friend at his apartment, and overall, it was a one time incident. The yield was maybe 3-4 doses. I took some once on my own, then about a week later we took the rest together, so i actually ingested them twice in total.
Right now, i'm nearly 3 years removed from this incident, and since then have graduated with a CS degree, established my career, and haven't been involved with any illicit substances since then.
From what I can tell, my situation is one that can likely be mitigated and i'm fairly confident that they will be able to see that this isn't a pattern of behavior and was isolated experimentation when i was younger. It definitely isn't consistent with my values or goals today.
My question is how I should convey this on the SF-86?
- I disclosed the nature and frequency of my psilocybin usage as being "I consumed psilocybin mushrooms experimentally. I did this exactly twice, once around (date 1) and again around (date 2)".
- I disclosed general involvement as "I cultivated a small quantity of psilocybin mushrooms for personal consumption between (date 1) and (date 2), this was a one time incident"
I was wondering whether or not i should leave this as-is or if i should mention that the cultivation (and use) happened with a friend. The form is asking about my involvement, so to say that i cultivated psilocybin once for personal use is accurate. I was concerned that if i mentioned doing it with a friend, it could be seen as minimizing or deflecting, and thought that during my interview or poly, if they ask where this incident occurred or if anyone else was involved, i would just answer by explaining that I did this with a friend and it happened at his apartment. But at the same time, I also don't want it to seem like i'm omitting anything especially if i just leave it as-is and then later mention i did it with a friend, in which case they might wonder why i didnt mention it on the form.
I haven't submitted the form yet, so any advice on what language to use here or what to say would be appreciated
