Discreet vanilla wrist cuffs/bracelets for impromptu CNC
I posted a while ago looking for suggestions on how to create some vanilla-looking bracelets that would double as cuffs for impromptu CNC/free use play, and after spending WAY too much money and doing a ton of experiments, I finally found something I love!
Not posting photos directly as I wear these at work and in public and don’t want to be recognized, but they’re very pretty and easy to make.
I found some pretty silver heart shaped carabiners, and made a bracelet out of a colourful nylon strap (it’s actually a cat leash that I cut up) with a loop at either end secured by rhinestone rivets. The strap is cut to the size of my wrist, although it would be pretty straightforward to make it adjustable too. I just thread the loops through either side of the carabiner and it’s on! Very secure (leashes are made for pulling, after all) and the carabiner makes it easy to clip the two bracelets together.
Total cost was about $30 for the cat leash (it came with a harness too - would have been cheaper to buy at a fabric/craft store but I couldn’t find any narrow straps near me) + $15 for a pack of rhinestone rivets and $10 for a pack of 8 carabiners on Amazon.
Plus like $130 spent on other stuff that didn’t end up working. But at least I have lots of craft materials now…
