Purchase protection plan?

A few weeks ago I bought the G757 but held off on the protection plan. I have until Jan 15th to go back to the store and buy the plan. My question is what happens if you end up using the plan for a repair or replacement. Do I have to purchase another plan again or how does it work? Maybe a MC employee can help with this question.
