LOA
I have a long story. I appreciate any input or information you may have. (or opinions) Have any of you been on leave of absence (short term disability) until you get the call it’s turning into long term disability soon? So I’m supposed to be getting the paperwork to fill out in the mail. I’ve been in the hospital several times this year and my accommodations were denied when I returned to work August 25th so they put me back on leave of absence. I’m still healing from blood clots in my lungs and in my leg and issues surrounding that. (I actually just got out of the hospital again two days ago) I’m in physical therapy three times a week (for reconditioning of my body from the blood clots). I also have panic attacks that I’m learning to deal with (for the last 14 months ) through a lot of programs that I’ve been through. I believe the panic attacks started because of Amazon and the constant physical pain it’s caused me. I do heal up every time, but then I end up getting injured in someway again . It’s just very painful for me to work there. To add fuel to the fire, I injured my knee in May at work a few months before I was hospitalized for the blood clots this summer (in July). So they had me doing asset tagging on the computer and now workmen’s Comp. is paying for my physical therapy (for my knee) and doctors appointments for my knee . I’m only getting paid for my leave of absence pay and Workmen’s Comp. is not paying me because they said they had already approved me to work doing a seated position. My doctor, for my blood clots accommodations was a seated position that was denied . I think I’ve felt mentally stuck for some reason and that’s why I’ve stayed at Amazon That’s why I haven’t found another job. I didn’t have panic attacks until I started at Amazon for context of the panic attacks. I’m kind of scared. I’m scared because I’ll lose my Aetna insurance as far as I’m aware. I’ll have to change a few of my doctors. I believe I’ll be on Medicaid. I’m just wondering if long-term disability is going to be smooth and what to expect. I’ve never been in this circumstance before. I started at Amazon March 21, 2020 as a seasonal part-time and my blue badge started in October 2020, then became full-time for one month, then full time ever since. I’ve been at 3 sort centers and now a fulfillment center. I’m worried I won’t have enough money.
