So if you ever been in an anime community, you will know that shippers exist. People will take characters and they will put them in relationships with other characters because they think they’re good together and sometimes this is popular like Giyu and Shinobu

And sometimes this is unpopular like Bakudeku

And a lot of times I see people lose their absolute minds when there’s a relationship that’s out of boy girl relationship. It literally drives anime community into complete hysterics

They literally freak out and say oh my God, the author hates this or the author would be as ashamed of this

And I’m here to tell you that the author could probably care less about who people ship

I’m honestly really tired of the

"the author said they're straight"

“They're obviously straight" excuse each time to backup this kinda argument

In fact if they were truly against it they would say something, but any good fandom needs a shipping community

But here is the hard truth is that phantoms need shippers

Any good fandom to survive needs some kind of shipping community because shippers are usually and most often the ones creating the most content, writing fanfiction, creating fanart, making edit, etc. buying the most merch.

And these things are extremely important to a fandom survival because they a show relevant and act active if there’s no interest in them it’s less likely to get more manga, more seasons, more character art, more figures, etc.

publishers and manga authors are probably well aware of this, or their actions imply that they are

I’m gonna be using jujutsu Kaisen in my example for this

Now the most popular ship in this fan by far is Gojo Geto for a lot of reasons and this one is met with a lot of controversy, but also a lot of popularity

They won’t want BL ships canonized BUT they do like that BL money.

Almost every single figure of Gojo can probably be found being sold with Geto

In fact, I can’t think of a single set or very few sets where Gojo isn’t sold without Geto

In fact, if you Google pair merch sets and Gojo and don’t specify most sets will come up with Gojo, an overwhelming amount of merch is Gojo and Geto together

In fact most JJK merch of season 2 are SuguSato and Hidden Inventory while there's barely any Shibuya ones despite it being the most **popular** arc

Another example of Yuji and Megumi a lot of character art is Megumi and Yuji together

(A lot of them with Megumi always starting at Yuji lol)

You have any idea how much male x male and female x female people spent on merch? Its insane! Its partly why I think animes do it deliberate to lure them in.

Ships sell. A shitload at that

Authors could probably care less about ships
