Hybrid would not get out of EV mode

We were just driving our 2024 SX Prestige and when we hit the gas pedal it was not accelerating. The EV mode was engaged and the engine would not kick on.

Then the hybrid battery was drained and a Hybrid system error came on the screen.

We had to pull over, turn off the car, wait, and restart it.

Was a little scary since it happened while driving in a busy area.

Anyone have this happen? Is there a test EV mode that maybe we somehow enabled?

I did just have a recall update get done. I will call the dealer.

Any thoughts on how this could have been a user error are welcomed.
