I donated my kidney to my little sister

REQUEST

Hi everyone, My name is Kiara,

I never imagined I’d be writing something like this, but my family is going through a really difficult time, and I’m trying to do everything I can to help my little sister.

My sister is only 30 years old, a mother of two, and has been sick for the last three years due to kidney failure. Her health declined so much that this past November on 11/19/25, I donated my kidney to her. I would do it again a thousand times.

The transplant saved her life, but recovery has been much harder than we expected. She’s immunocompromised, has good and bad days, and she has to go to UCLA twice a week for checkups. She’s currently on 25+ anti-rejection medications, and just one month of medication costs her about $495, not including the medical bills insurance doesn’t cover.

She’s not able to work, and she’s the sole provider for her two children. I’m a server at a hotel, and I help as much as I can, but I don’t have the financial ability to cover her rent, medications, and bills on my own. It’s been overwhelming, and I’m just trying to keep her afloat during this recovery.

I created a GoFundMe to help keep a roof over her head and cover her medications while her body stabilizes. Even a share means more than you know.

I know the internet gets flooded with requests, and many people have it much worse. But if anyone could share, donate, or even send a kind thought our way, it would mean the world to my sister and our family.

Thank you for reading, and thank you to anyone who chooses to help. I’m deeply grateful.
