I'm wondering how many women have received weird messages on LinkedIn?
Hi! Recently my Linkedin was full of stories about women switching their gender on the platform to make and noticing a huge uptake in post engagement.
This got me thinking about Linkedin as a platform and how it's essentially an online extension of the professional sphere.
I myself am an early career journalist and I use Linkedin a lot. I've received inappropriate requests to meet, comments on my appearance and l've even had a situation when I was on dating apps where a guy I had not matched with found me on LinkedIn and harassed me for weeks.
All of this has had me curious about whether the platform has a systemic issue in regards to users feeling uncomfortable. I'm currently doing a final project for my Masters programme (data journalism) and am exploring what's going on.
I'm trying to quantify the issue and l'd be super intrigued to hear any stories that anyone would be willing to share. I've attached a link in the comments to an anonymous (super short) Google form that's collecting responses, whether positive negative or neutral!
