I’m a handbag beginner, can you give me suggestions based on what I’m looking for?

Question ❓ ❔

I am new to the world of handbags, I just turned 32 and the only nice bag I’ve ever owned is a Kate Spade purse that fits next to nothing. I usually just buy a $20 bag from TJ Maxx when I need something.

I’m looking for a bag that fits a good amount (phone, small/medium wallet, snacks because I’m a mom, chapstick, hand lotion, gum, etc). I’m open to neutrals but usually gravitate toward black. I only want gold hardware. I like the size of a tote but prefer a zipper top (or other type of closure) instead of a button. I need something that will hold up over time because I’m a mom who is constantly running errands and slinging my bags around. Kinda open on other features since I don’t know exactly what I want.

My budget preferably under $400 but will spend more if it seems like the perfect fit. Does anyone have suggestions?
