Dual-channel RAM issue.
Hi everyone.
I'm dealing with freezings since August. Now I now it's a RAM issue, but not sure if it's a faulty mobo slot or, maybe, it's an addressed issue and can be solved through a specific BIOS setting or a future BIOS upgrade.
My specs:
Asus Prime Z690-P
i7 12700F (cooler Thermaltake UX200 SE)
Asus RTX 4070 Super Dual
2x16GB Crucial DDR5 5600 MT/s
Thermaltake Toughpower 850W
At the end of June this year, I replaced two 16GB Adata 4800 MT/s RAM modules with two 16GB Crucial 5600 MT/s modules. A month later, my PC started freezing while playing games. After a month, it was happening while using Windows, and in recent weeks, even when the PC was idle. I booted Linux Mint live from a USB drive, and after a while, it froze again. In all cases, the only way to get the PC to respond is by shutting it down or restarting it using the power buttons. What I did next was install only one module in the DIMM_A2 slot, and it worked uninterrupted for 24 hours without freezing. The following day, I replaced it with the other module, and it also worked without problems for another 24 hours. I didn't change any RAM settings in the BIOS, so everything related to it is at its defaults. I've attached photos where you can't see any broken pins or dirt in the slot. Could this be a problem that can be fixed with a special BIOS setting or an update?
