Clarification for prone/hover

If a creature who can hover, like a mind flayer, gets subjected to the prone condition (lets say from a battlemaster or rogue trip)... what happens? Hover says they do not fall out of the sky if they have the prone condition, but would they still have the other effects of prone? (half movement to standup, advantage on melee attacks etc)
