What would have happened to Man of Steel if Green Lantern was successful?

Originally Green Lantern was supposed to be the start of a DC cinematic universe before Man of Steel became the first but it obviously failed and those plans were scrapped. That said if Green Lantern was a success it is hard to fathom Man of Steel sharing continuity with it because of how different they are. With the former coming out in June 2011 and the latter starting principal photography in August 2011, curious what the approach would be, if either production postponed to make the movie fit with GL tonally perhaps with rewrites, or if Man of Steel is allowed to be it's own thing or just cancelled similar to Justice League Mortal? What do you all think?
