Going NC with parents, should I let them know or not

I feel so guilty to just NC with them without telling them but part of me knows that they'll go in to a performative damage control or just get angry and not even reply. I'm going NC for my mental health not to get even with them, I care for them obviously. I just don't want to continue a damaged relationship where I'm the tiniest, last priority in their life. I'd rather focus my mental energy on my kids to be a better father.
