Struggling to "allow" myself to climax. Does anybody relate to this?

I'll try to keep it short; In essence, during sexual activity, when arousal builds up, at some point I kind of "know" that my arousal is high enough for an orgasm to happen theoretically, but it's like I mentally resist it, and like I am struggling to accept the pleasure and to simply "let go".

It's not that I can't orgasm at all, but a very good analogy would be: imagine the water pressure of a fire hydrant, which symbolizes my pent up arousal, and then imagine letting all that high pressure water escape through a tiny valve (instead of a normal valve), which symbolizes my inability to "integrate" the pent up arousal into a "full" orgasm.

This often leads me to being stuck at the "pre-orgasm" state, which then kind of becomes uncomfortable after some time, because I want the release, but my mind does not let me do it smoothly. Sometimes I do orgasm but I realize that it was more of a partial or fragmented orgasm and that I did not allow myself to orgasm at full potential......which then kind of leaves me un-satisfied......you get the picture.

It's just exhausting most of the time, and I'm in dire need of a solution, so I thought to ask you folks, in case you have some tips for me!
