I need some advice while Awaiting official diagnosis.
TW: Childhood Trauma, Abuse , Self harm
So , im not gonna give a life story but here’s my shortened plethora of problems. Im awaiting my ASD screening but the waiting list is forever, however i am almost certain i am autistic. My symptoms align with almost every aspect of my life including:
- chronic GI problems
- took longer to hit milestones as a kid (talking , walking , writing reading , motor skills etc.
- i have a crazy amount of childhood trauma, bullying and mental abuse due to me being “different”
- school was impossible. i was a gifted child but in my teens I couldn’t pass any exam or anything with added pressure
- i have always been very socially awkward and can never talk properly atleast without quoting a song or a movie
- chronic headaches and chronic stress
- extremely sensitive to sound, light and textures
- i stim alot to handle my emotions, i need deep pressure constantly to feel calm
- daily tasks are a chore eg. eating , showering, brushing my teeth/hair , cleaning etc. and it takes every inch of my energy to function like a “normal” person.
- I feel every 1000% but cannot understand why and what I feel
- ive always been obsessed with certain things, songs, food, colours
- i also have of OCD and PTSD.
And the list goes on.
I am also quitting my job because i cannot handle working and the stress and constant illness feels like it’s killing me.
But I just need some advice on while I await on this diagnosis, is it okay to self-diagnose? what support do i take while awaiting it? There are not alot of options in where I live (UK) and doctors always have pinned it down to stress and anxiety only and it drives me crazy (Let me not forget I am a lady so already you can tell that doctors will not listen) , and i have been seen by multiple physiatrists and therapists and have never gotten a clear answer, is there anyone that has been in my position? I would love some links or suggestions to keep me going forward
