PMDD getting worse with age

medical woes 💉

So I have pretty severe depression and anxiety to begin with, and although I haven't been diagnosed with PMDD, I am pretty sure I have it. I am 40 now and for the past while, my depression and anxiety get a shit ton worse right before and during the start of my period, accompanied by some extremely debilitating fatigue (my iron and b12 levels are fine so it's not anemia). I am lucky that my job is easy and wfh because I constantly fall asleep right in the middle of work during this time, in between crying spells because I have all of these intrusive thoughts about my daughter dying and stuff. When I am home with her, I have to kind of leave her be so I can nap on the couch because I am so fucking tired.

I am gonna make an appt with my doctor but for those of you who have gone through similar what did you do? Should I go back on birth control at 40 or try another anti-depressant (I have tried so many over the years for my depression, like 7-8, and none have worked).
