I’m organizing a grant and need your advice—
I’m organizing a grant that involves creating a space that will be open and comfortable for everyone in a community regardless of income, race, gender or housing status, etc. to feel welcome. I can’t share the details surrounding what the place is exactly, but it’s basically a park.
I want to know, if you’ve ever been homeless, what has made you hesitant or feel unsafe/unwelcome in a place? What kind of stigmas did you face in your day to day from other people as someone without a home? What do you wish more establishments would’ve done to make you feel not just the ability to enter a place, but accepted enough to stay? What kind of amenities did you wish establishments considered for their homeless patrons?
If you have any other stories or suggestions you’d like to share, please feel free to. I appreciate all insight!
