Gaming stresses me out
I love watching my partner play console games, and I have bought and played some of my own in the past however I’ve rarely finished any. I like the idea of gaming, and I get excited to play a new game but then as I begin to play I have an array of challenges such as:
- overwhelmed by game mechanics
- forgetting which button does which, it is virtually impossible for me to play a combat game as I get incredibly mixed up with the buttons when I have to act fast. My partner says I just need practice and I agree practise absolutely helps, but I end up so frustrated with myself as I know which button does which but my brain just doesn’t engage quickly enough
- anything strategic, I struggle with visualisation and planning. I literally cried playing Palworld earlier because I couldn’t make a decision on where to put my base and then later how to build a layout
- whenever I hit any sort of challenge in the game it feels like a total nuisance and I can’t understand how people being challenging
- if I take a few days off, I get super avoidance because I worry I’ve forgotten everything and won’t know how to play
- overanalyse everything and want to do everything the best (eg I was playing Unpacking the other week, a game literally created for people to chill out; I got so unbelievably irritable when things wouldn’t fit where I wanted them to and then I got bored real quick when there was no actual progression
Idk, can anyone relate? I feel ridiculous
