For the filthy casual: barrel-aged mad elf or original??

Hi! It's that time of year, so I went today to get some of my favorite over-hyped seasonal beer before my local place sold out. They had original mad elf in six-packs, they also had a barrel-aged, pricey version I wasn't familiar with, seen here: https://troegs.com/beer/bourbon-barrel-aged-mad-elf/

It's a $5 hike and you only get 4 instead of 6. As someone who doesn't typically drink beer, should I bother? Would I even notice a big difference? I'm not a big drinker so the 11% in original mad elf is already pretty heavy.

Thanks in advance for your input!!
