Can I get the short of trans passport status in the US rn?

Passport Question / Discussion

I finally got my BC updated and they fucked up the spelling of my name, so I get the joy of waiting another ?? amount of time till I get the right one. I'm really stressing about the revolving door changes to trans passport holders. Here's what I envision would happen:

  1. I get my name/gender changed successfully on my BC before updating my passport
  2. I present my BC with the corrected information in my application
  3. I receive a passport with my right marker
  4. Important to note, I used to have a passport in the past as a kid before my transition. It has been expired for the past few years now.

However, I'm reading around conflicting information, that it doesn't matter if my BC is right now because I used to have a passport in the past and they'll go off that. But I hear people are getting their right markers, but with recent changes now they aren't?

Can I get a pulse check on trans passport holders for right now? Will my corrected BC even matter? And are they still going through the self-affirmation forms too? I'm really hoping my updated BC will avoid that affirmation form and old gender marker.

Thanks
