This is all coming from a Hulk fan so I’ll try to be impartial but my bias will obviously seep through.

In terms of the fight itself it does a lot more than death battle when it comes to showing off Godzilla’s many arsenal. In a sense it’s what a Godzilla’s wish list of what they wanted the death battle to be like and it’s understandable given how underwhelming Godzilla was in the actual death battle where he felt more like an obstacle rather than an opponent. The sound design and models as well as the animation is very reminiscent of 2010s style vs animations so it’s almost nostalgic.

As a Hulk fan that’s where the positives end. Let’s call it for what it is. A spite match. It was supposed to improve on what the death battle failed on yet hulk was essentially turned into a punching the got a few licks back in and the comment section lapped it up and called it an respectful representation of both characters. While we did get a kaiju battle and a Hulk lasers they are cheapened by the fact that it’s no longer Hulk using them, it’s toba who is only there to give hulk a fighting chance otherwise the video would only be half as long (do with that information what you will)

Banner is a non factor is this fight because according to the creator it’s very unlikely that Hulk and banner would get along to actually face off Godzilla despite multiple examples in the comics that suggest otherwise. In fact the Hulk system is more than willing to all collaborate to fight an adversary.

All in all this is Hulkzilla if you gave Hulk none of his scaling, upscaled Godzilla using Twitter statements, give Godzilla everything and give Hulk the bare minimum (sprinkling in toba mischaracterised to give Hulk a pity point as if you hadn’t disrespected him enough)!

My thoughts on the Godzilla vs Hulk remake
