Downgrading to 1.0.8 under Linux with dotnet, how to do so successfully?

Modding

Hi all,

I'm under Fedora Linux, and while I'm able to mod 1.2.0.59 , I would like to downgrade so I can play multiplayer and try certain mods. I have followed Gillian's GTA IV mod guide and I think the problem I am running into may be with dotnet, but I'm not certain. (Purchased copy is Steam Complete Edition.)

Has anyone got this to work in recent times?

I am able to apply the mod bundle, and then I've tried installing dotnet both with protontricks and winetricks through Lutris. and launch the game. I have tried copying the 12210 proton prefix into a fresh Lutris prefix and installing Dotnet; I've tried installing dotnet directly to the prefix under \home\.steam\steamapps\compatdata\12210; I've also tried with Bottles.

The game will launch when downgraded but still throws up a wine dialogue box stating dotnet 4.0 needs to be installed.

After that, once I'm in the game it says 1.0.8 in the Game menu, BUT, LibertyTweaks doesn't load, which indicates to me something is going on with a dependency perhaps dotnet.

I've tried lots of combinations between Lutris, Steam, and Bottles.

Oh and one caveat: I actually had LibertyTweaks launch one time but I'm not sure how it happened. At the time I thought something was broke due to the dialogue boxes and started over, and have never been able to get LibertyTweaks to appear again.

My main goal is I'd like to play multiplayer. Thanks for any advice if you've been through this.
