Checking in, then silence. What is he doing?

I met someone while we were both going through divorces. We hit it off unintended instantly & we continued to see each other casually for 5 months.

During our time he would ask if there were other people and at our final time together he got it in his head there had been. He had his say, calmed down and then opened up (he’d often open up to me). This time he spoke of love, he said that he just wanted to be loved for who he was (he’d asked me what I liked about him prior and was surprised I told him things about who he was). I wasn’t sure if his love comment was aimed toward me or just his general view.

After this he moved homes and wanted to get his kids & his life settled. I messaged him to see if he was in town one night and he said ‘You’re in town again??’ I asked when I could see him again and he didn’t reply.

Now, two months later he messaged me last night saying ‘Hey. How are you?’ I replied and he hasn’t responded. Why would he bother checking in again after all this time only to ignore me??

I was beginning to fall for him 💔
