Stocking stuffer/gift ideas for mother who has limited (affordable) likes
Every year it is a challenge to shop for my mom and do her stocking. She's in her 60s, I have a $200ish budget for stocking (at least, that's what my dad gives me, I never track) and $100ish for a gift from me
Things she doesn't like/can't have:
Any beauty/bath/body products except the one shampoo, soap, and lotion she likes
Anything that smells/is scented
Chocolate (cheap chocolate in small quantities, like Reese's or Andes mints are OK)
Jewelry that isn't at least 10k gold - must be rose gold
Nuts
Anything chewy
Anything too sweet
Anything crunchy/with seeds that could get caught in her teeth
Shoes that aren't extremely specific for her feet
Crafts that require looking at small things, like needlepoint/cross stitch/embroidery
E-readers (they make her head hurt)
Alcohol
Caffeine
Anything with fake sugar
Hair accessories other then simple hair ties
Things that have worked well in the past but now she has too many of/doesn't want any more:
Dish towels
Socks
Hair ties
Pens
Notepads/books
Miniature dollhouse items
Blankets
Yeti insulated mug
Hairbrush
Baking/kitchen accoutrements
yard sale
Things she likes:
Leather purses - she rarely carries them, but she likes them
Rose gold jewelry
Books
The British Royal Family, most specifically Queen Elizabeth II
Smoking cigarettes (I will not support this habit)
Orchids (she has at least a dozen)
Miniature dollhouses (but she thinks she might be done with this hobby since she is out of space for them)
Her cat (who can't have toys because the dog will eat them)
Her iPad jigsaw puzzles, coloring, and watching Instagram reels with the sound on
Antiques
Yardsales/watching people go to them on YouTube
Dunkin decaf coffee pods
So far, for her stocking, I have some Reese's, some other type of chocolate, a tablet stand, a little trinket dish that looks like her cat, silk hair ties (which I may have also bought her last year, IDK)
For her big gift from my dad she is getting a Queen Elizabeth II doll/figurine that she has mentioned two years in a row
I know there are things that will make good gifts for her but I am so stumped as to what I can do within the budget I have - I don't want to just buy stuff for the sake of buying stuff. Anything she really wants she buys for herself or it costs several hundred dollars. I've suggested a digital picture frame - she is uninterested.
I've gotten her interesting thrifted/ebay items that fit her general aesthetic before, but the house is just full of various antiques and whatnot - there isn't much space for new stuff and it's hard to gift something she might just buy at a yardsale.
She was, once upon a time, a florist so I might look into a cool antique vase, but would love suggestions - she is just so hard to shop for, especially to fill a stocking!
