As an adult, is it okay to not have a very active social life?

I grew up in a very dysfunctional family and with that being said one of the issues im addressing in therapy is how I always feel the need to be doing something. Going out to the movies, the store, dinners, board game clubs, etc.

I guess I’ve always enjoyed being busy which i’m realizing stems from my childhood and my parents often calling me lazy if I wasn’t actively doing something.

Now that i’m more independent and just graduated this past May most of my days all look the same. Mon-Friday work, the gym, or sometimes rollerskating. I don’t really hangout with my friends as often because life, i’d say maybe 3-4 times a month. I don’t really talk to anyone when i’m home besides my roommate occasionally.

Don’t get me wrong I will go out on my own here and there but I find it really hard to be consistent when it’s just me alone. I’ve taken myself on dates, planetarium clubs, museums, the movies, dnd games, etc. and it’s usually not often that I do that since i’m usually broke.

I feel like if i’m not doing something everyday even after work then i’m wasting the day and missing out on good experiences.
