How do I demonstrate interest in a field of work without anything to back it up?

I have some activities to back up my interest in majoring in compsci, but nothing to prove my interest in doing investigation/digital forensics work. I could obviously discuss what aspects of the work appeal to me (helping victims, high stakes, puzzle solving, presenting evidence to court) but what if I haven't done anything to back this up?
