Wireless charger for AirPods

Whenever I put my AirPods Pro on the wireless charging pad, it constantly makes the charging beep noise every 30 seconds or so which means the charger is not constantly charging it and turning on and off. The message on the idrive screen also constantly pops up saying “charging is active do not place electronic cards in the tray”

It happens even when I’m stationary which means it’s not because the case is moving around while I’m driving.

Does anybody else have this happen with AirPods or do I just have a defective charger?
