Is doing ROTC helpful in engineering
I am in High School right now, and seriously considering doing some sort of Aeronautical engineering. I also would be happy to work for a defense contractor. I'm looking at ROTC as something that can help me with that not only with of course tuition and such, but also because I'm wondering if it will help me more by doing it then by not.
By doing ROTC, you have to commission for 4 years, which does delay career oppurtunity, but I believe everyone who is an officer has a Secret Clearance. That, combined with the fact that you are ex-military, makes me wonder if the job opportunities and pay are comparable to engineers who are not ex-military or have an SC. I was hoping if anybody has some sort of experience with how valuable Secret clearances are with defense contractors, and how much it would help me if I applied to one post military.
