Throwing Knives feedback for Devs upon further reflection
So I've been thinking a lot about throwing knives recently with them not being able to one shot anymore because I'm no longer having fun with them with 2.0 due to their lack of immediate impact. I've been thinking on why it was done this way to try to better understand the motivations behind it. My conclusion is that the reason is a mixture of laceration and penetrating knives. My guess is the devs might think it would be too powerful for one knife to one shot a cop, then continue to penetrate and one shot every cop behind it. On top of that I think they also want to maximize the usage and usefulness of the laceration skills bleed effect.
A simple solution to this is, in my opinion, would be to make the knives deal max damage on the first enemy it hits and have that max damage be able to one shot normal swat, heavy swat, cloakers, techies and snipers. But maybe with every cop it hits after the penetration, the damage of the knife decreases by a little which would lead to the cops behind not being one shot but instead bleeding out. And for specials such as zappers, naders and shields, if you hit them with the knife first, they should probably be one shot with the knife if you hit them directly in the head and will bleed out if you hit them anywhere else.
I feel this would be the best of both worlds. This would increase build diversity in the knife tree as well. You could then have people using throwing knives as a means to kill one cop at a time without feeling forced to use laceration. But you could also have that laceration/penetration combo where it immediately deals with the first cop and makes the ones behind bleed out while sacrificing the ability to retrieve the knives being that you have no idea where the knife will end up with penetration and the knives breaking on the environment now.
That's my final throwing knife feedback. My favorite playstyle from the old system that I hope can become my favorite playstyle again.
Thanks
