Which engines are good for a used VW Golf?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking at getting a used VW Golf (baseline model) probably between 2014 - 2018 and I’m a but confused about the engine options. I’ve heard pretty mixed things about the 1.2 TSI and a lot of peple saying to avoid it due to reliability issues.

Im now looking at the 1.395/1.4 TSI engines instead. Are these any better? Are they more teliable long-term? I don’t beed anything super fast, just something that’s not going to give me constant headaches and drain the bank
