Lifrguarding part time as a teacher: Seen as strange or not? Possible conflict of interest?
I currently have a second job teaching online college classes, but I'm at risk of being laid off due to budget cuts. (Thanks, Ford!)
I'm therefore thinking of going back to lifeguarding a night or two a week to make extra money. My town is opening a pool just down the street from my school.
I'm a male in my mid 30s. Would this be seen as strange? (Some people might look at it that way when it comes to having a side job at our income level, but they dont quite get the conceptnof inflation). I might teach lessons or lifesaving to students, and some could potentially end up working there. I could even become a part time supervisor and be their boss. Is this a conflict of interest?
Obviously, in any case I would be sure to avoid being alone with them, unnecessary physical contact, etc. I would also recuse myself from the hiring process if a student ever applied for a job there.
It's the only pool within an hour's radius. I really miss aquatics and could use the extra cash.
Would be seen as strange? Am I too old? Could it be a conflict of interest?
