Is it normal to find sex and romance scenes better written on books and very comfortable even reading with parents near but feel uncomfortable with any couple in movies?

I read plantation boy book with my mother but i found sex scenes in the book, however, i aprecciated with my parents, but in movies and tv shows, i dislike seing even a juvenile romance, is it normal if i prefer reading books over watching movies, i know that plantation boy is not a horror book, but have some sex stuff
