When did “East 241 Street” finally lose the “East” and just get labeled “241 Street” all-around?

I remember that it had been called East 241 Street for a while until the mid-1980s, but destination signs on the Redbirds still had the “East 241 Street” moniker for quite a while after that because I definitely see the “East 241” on them around as late as the mid-to-late 1990s.

I don’t believe that the R62/A’s had “East 241 Street” but rather just plain “241 Street” or maybe even “Wakefield - 241 Street” on those…
