Feels like I'm going backwards
For the last 7 years I have been struggling with severe anxiety as well as panic disorder. I was put on medication (SSRI's, I've tried a few of them) when I was 12 (I am 19 now), tried to go off of them at one point a few years ago and it didn't go well. My symptoms were at an all time high (dizziness, nausea/throwing up, headaches, chest pain, etc.) so I ultimately HAD to go back on medication because of how unmanageable my symptoms were. I was unable to even get out of bed until the medication I was put back on kicked in. I have been on 100mg of sertraline since, I'm going to say it's been 4-5 years since I was put back on it. It was really helpful and I felt like I could do things again without having panic attacks, sure I was still anxious a lot of the time but not to the extent that I was. Recently, my symptoms have been coming back. I have been doing everything I can to minimize the anxiety (eating well, routine, exercising when I can, and seeing a counselor consistently) but my symptoms are still slowly coming back and actually getting worse. I have a doctor's appointment with my GP coming up to talk about raising the dosage of sertraline that I'm on and I'm really hoping that it helps. Has anyone else had similar experiences to this?
I'm worried that just sertraline alone isn't enough for me. My anxiety is impacting my ability to do even basic things like taking care of myself, driving, school, and work. Has anyone had long term success on SSRI's and adding in another medication?
