Help improving chances

❔ Question

Hi y'all,

Im currently a sophomore and I feel stuck in a hole, I had a really rough freshman year (due to a number of family problems that resulted in more stress than I thought and that it was really had at managing) and ending up earning a beautiful 2.3 gpa. Over summer I realized I was cooked so I corrected my issues academics wise and am currently looking at a 3.7-3.8gpa (call it 3.7 for now, I havent received all my final grades) this semester over 18 hours. My sGPA is a 3.55.

I know I have to continue doing better academically, but I'm very much first gen and I had historically been able to do alot of stuff on my own to put myself in a good position for college, athletics, whatever, and this time I didn't. I have zero volunteer or clinical hours (which I didn't know how crucial they were until like the end of summer).

Is doing a masters program a good idea? I've seen mixed reviews on it, and assuming I pull off the grades I estimate I can earn I should have a ~3.4 or 3.5gpa by my senior year, that feels like something I can remedy with a good MCAT (Im not a bad test taker so it doesn't scare me too much).

I plan on volunteering as a strength and conditioning coach over summer for a soccer team but the coach has been inconsistent with communication so I might have to plan on something else, that'd be ~150-200hrs/summer, want to find some other things to get involved in, I love my community.

For clinical I have been looking at scribing one or two days a week through the year and started looking into helping as an assistant athletic trainer during summer sports camps/events.

Research I don't fully understand how to get involved in yet, but I hope to find something soon.

I am also completing a CPT (Personal Trainer) and plan on doing that as a source of income, not medical but feels relevant.

What else do I do? I know I don't have alot for y'all to base my actual capabilities on but I wouldn't be posting if I thought I wasn't able to manage a 'comeback' I suppose. As I mentioned earlier, is a Masters program a good idea? Other extracurriculars? Are my extracurricular choices good/bad? Just looking for insight.
