Scripture Life: How can I do works that the Bible says I must do, and make my work guided by James 2:17?
- Simple.
Separate:
- First, God and his faith and work - do that first. Different work. Different faith.
God.
- Faith. That: God had faith enough in his own word, who has always been in him. Just as John 1:1–2 says “who” the Word of God is:
- “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God..” [John 1:1–2]. So, it’s just God speaking. The word that proceeds out of God’s mouth. John 1:14 says, “…and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us;" is this same Jesus Christ.
- Psalm 107:20 says, that God has complete trust and faith in his own word that he says of it: “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” [God. Isaiah 55:11] - Psalm 107:20 says God: “He sent his Word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions;”
- That God sent his Word, who is Jesus Christ, to heal you. Deliver you from your destruction. That’s his (God’s) work.
- Work. That: this work of God was even asked about in John 6:28–29. It says: “Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God*, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”*
- That, if you look at the “BACKGROUND” of John 6:28–29, what was done as a work by people:
People. That, John 6:1–27, in it, Jesus feeds about 5000 men from a few small loaves and fishes. (John 6:10). After, that, as a work of people - - in John 6:15, they: as people “accept as true” Jesus is that one prophesied to come - the Messiah - and, as a work of people - they: “…would ‘come and take’ him by force, and ‘make’ him a King”
- And Jesus departed from them into a mountain himself alone. That, after this, the next morning - these same people: Put themselves to another work: To find Jesus. He left them. Because he went to his disciples out at sea. And, these people, did yet another work: Took shipping, to seek Jesus in Capernaum (John 6:24). And when they “found” him, which is yet another work, in discovery or finding someone - look to their own works; as if they accomplished some “thing” right:
- Jesus says of this work: which, to do work, you have to believe the work is true and right. So, these people: Fully believe in their works. But Jesus says, of their works, what they really want to accomplish is, they believe Jesus can feed them. So, they’re not seeking Jesus, but seeking to be fed again. It’s in John 6:26–27. They ask Jesus, “how did you get here?” (Capernaum), and he replies to them “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.”
So, the work people do:
- Is, just like God. He believes fully in his word. Enough that he is in his word, because, he’s the one that says it: and, he accomplishes what he says he will do, or things just are, as he decrees them be. By the Word of God.
- So, the work people do: Is people believe fully in their own word. Enough to that, they are in their word, because, they say it first in themselves, and then set about to accomplish that as a work. Just like the people did in John 6:1–29.
- It’s NOT the same faith. Not the same work.
- But for people: God, by his word, has already decreed everybody, over the whole earth, to the very ends of it - he decreed this “how” they are to “operate,” said, as a decreed throughout all his heaven and earth:
- People: Shall be this way:
- It’s NOT the same faith. Not the same work.
- “MAN SHALL NOT LIVE BY BREAD ALONE, BUT BY EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDETH OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.” - God. Said, by the Word of God. Jesus Christ. (Source: Bible. Matthew 4:4)
- But in John 6:1–29, people are living by their own faith in their own word, and Jesus tells them plainly how they aren’t doing anything he says.
So, it’s a different faith and different work - and for People: God has decreed they are to “operate” by his word, that he has total faith in, because he’s in his Word, doing the works.
So, there’s two kinds of people
- There's people: that “operate” as GOD decrees. And,
- There’s people, like in John 6:1-29, that “operate” in not regarding the works of GOD, neither consider the operation of his hand. His works.
- They Consider: This people - - Then, reason together with themselves, to operate by their own word. Do the works people set or put themselves to do.
- All by a different faith. Do then, a different work. It’s plain as day, the works the people did in John 6:1–20 - they aren’t doing anything God says or decrees. Just people: operate and work by what they decree to themselves to do.
So, ask yourself:
- What “type” of person, from the two types above, is James?
- James claims it, and I believe his claim. He opens the Epistle with it, plain as day:
- James 1:1 says: “James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ”
- If he’s a servant: He simply “accepts as TRUE” (believes) what God decrees, by the word God speaks. Out of His mouth, and it’s God that’s made his own word both LORD and Christ. That’s the work God did, and sent him to heal you and deliver you from your destruction. Because he’s decreed and determined this is “how” he will save people from their sins in Daniel 9:24–27. By his work, he would do with sin himself. By his work.
- Galatians 2:16 says this same thing: “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”
- James “operates” by the Word of God. So, James “operates” or just “works” right. It’s really then explained in this word, “idle” - has two definitions, in the dictionary. The first is just sitting around; doing or accomplishing nothing.
- But the 2nd definition is in power. Says: 2. disconnected from a load or source of power. [Oxford dictionary. Web.] is “idle.” **Even James 2:17 says this plainly: “**Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” The clock: without or disconnected from a load or source of power” is alone. Without power.
- That some person that is “disconnected” from God, does not operate by his word. They’re dead. Like a clock, alone: that has no battery in it. It’s “works” are dead. Dead works. It’s still a clock, but it cannot tell time; but if it could, it could still claim, by it’s dead work, it tells the correct time 2x a day. It could be “stuck” on 10:10. So, twice a day, it is 10:10am or 10:10pm and say it’s works are righteous, when it’s dead. But the clock: Glorifies that work. Without any battery in it. But a clock that is “connected to a load or source of power” - whether someone looks at it or not, just “works” right. Shows you, by it’s works - it just Tells time, all the time, night and day. Just operates good, as it was intended or decreed to operate.
- And so does James, by the Word of God.
- That James has the same faith God has in the same word God is well pleased in. His own word. And Romans 10:17 says of this faith: “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” That’s the faith that pleases God. His own. Any bells going off in your head yet?
- James has “denied” himself. That is, “deny” also has two definitions. 1. is to “with hold (something) either from themselves or someone else. “Deny” them access to (this “it” or “something). Like, some Catholic. Won’t eat chocolate for five weeks. Denies themselves something. BUT THAT’S NOT THE DENY Jesus is talking about. It’s in “deny” alternate meaning; this: 2. to declare themselves, in their heart, then publicly they themselves are UNTRUE.
- That the “truth” is not in themselves; so they “dismiss themselves as inadequate; faulty; or unacceptable” - even their own word, and works is wrong. They don’t look unto it anymore as good. It’s filthy; done abominable works (Psalm 14:1–3). They live then, by the word of someone else. Like God asked everybody to. As he decreed. Out of his mouth.
- James “operates” by the Word of God. AND? He CAN SHOW you by he “operates” by the Word of God. That he just ‘operates’ by it. Just like I can. It’s the same Word of God in James as in me. As in any person. Over the whole earth that just believes on Jesus, as God has decreed this is how EVERYBODY is to operate.
The “real” question really then is: Do you see this?
If not:
- You’ll look to your own faith and work; that somehow, you’ll do the work. And by that, you’ll regard you and how you’ll accomplish it. Because you put your faith in you’ll do the work. And glue yourself to the Ten Commandments. And look for everytime you “accomplished” it - even in one “instance” - you believe, that work “atones” or “compensates for all the faults and bad aspects” of all the other commandments you broke.
- When “how” God uses the Ten Commandments, is from Adam forward - to include EVERYBODY over the whole earth - is all GUILTY of having NOT DONE the Ten Commandments. Broke them. Broken; they are not repairable. But people: By their own faith and work, believe they can “repair” the Ten Commandments by be sorry, then try to do them.
- When God is asking EVERYBODY. Over the whole earth to regard his work, and consider the operation of his hand. And what he did with their sins in and by who he sent. His own word, and God in him. That God DID the Ten Commandments himself, in Jesus Christ. ANd because he accomplished them, and he’s God, he made himself the compensation for the sins of the whole world - because he did the work with sin himself. And he looks on this work he did, as GREATER than the sins of the whole world.
- While you regard your work. And all “regard” is, is to have or put your faith in it. Your own work vs. his.
Do you see this?
How can I do works that the Bible says I must do, and make my work guided by James 2:17?
- Simple. You're regarding the wrong work. Your own. Think that works. SO:
Separate:
- First, God and his faith and work - do that first. Regard that work. Different work. Different faith. The works he has faith in are his. vs. you and what you're doing as work, shows you want faith in your own to do it: See it in scripture - explained below:
- Regard the Works of the LORD, and consider the operation of his hand. Different work. Different faith. The faith that pleases him, comes with his Word. What he says vs. you.
- See it.
