Creality Falcon A1 10W and Mac Issues, Anyone Found a Fix?

I wish I would have read more reviews specifically about macs and the Creality laser. I was excited to get the laser but have had nothing but issues over the past week getting it to connect and stay connected with my macbook air which only has USB C ports. I've read that you have to use a usb A hub to get it to work? The adapter that comes with the machine will connect it but then it quickly loses connection. Any suggestions are welcome, I don't want a 400$ paperweight in my garage!
