How do I call out?

I'm a cashier and I want to call out for one day this week because I have an important event to attend. I posted the shift in the app to see if anyone wants to take it but I highly doubt anyone will since it's on the weekend. Should I just call the store early to tell them that I can't work that day? Or do I wait to see if someone picks up the shift?
