Airtags for house cats?
I purchased 4 AirTags and collars for my cats, but upon some googling it seems there’s pretty mixed opinions about whether or not you should use an AirTag on your cat.
First of all, my cats do not and should not be outside. My apartment building had a fire earlier this summer. I happened to be home so the cats came out with me, but I locked the door on the way out. The firefighters broke into every door in the building to clear the apartments, and my door had to be fixed before it would shut again. My worry is that something like that happens while I am not there, and my door gets broken open (and left like that) that I will have some way to track down my animals if they’re on the loose. I’m not sure if firefighters would try to secure 4 cats instead of just letting them out, and the area I live in isn’t the greatest so I don’t know if anyone would try to catch them to see where they should be.
None of them have ever tried to escape and they’re generally not inclined to go outside, but if the door was left open they probably would.
I heard some people had concerns about the beeping, I am sort of curious if anyone else that uses them has had any problems with the tags beeping like while they’re at work and their phone is away from their cat.
I also live in the city so they should be pinging iPhones all around me if they do somehow get out.
Thoughts?
