How do you get outdoor walking (and running) stats announced through AirPods?

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to figure out how to get my outdoor walking stats announced automatically through my AirPods while using the Apple Watch’s native Workout app.

I see the option for Outdoor Walk → Voice Feedback (time, distance, average pace, etc.), and I select it and hit Start — but I’m not hearing any announcements during the workout.

So my questions are:

Is there something else in the native Workout app or in watch or phone settings that needs to be turned on for these audio announcements to work?

And does the same apply for Outdoor Run?

Would appreciate any tips from people who have this working.
