How to make daycare switch easier on toddler?

Toddler 1-3 Years

I’ve decided to change my 2.5 year olds daycare. I’m sick of his new daycare and I have found a new one that seems lovely.

He started daycare when he was 10 months old and took about six months to settle. It was horrible for me and him. He would cry and refuse food. The whole thing was emotionally traumatising for me.

But he finally settled in and things got better. But since then, the daycare has gone through series of changes.

  1. Educators kept leaving. Most recently 2 of his favourite educators left.
  2. They mostly have casuals who are hired on day to day basis.
  3. They are always short on staff. Everyday we get message from daycare asking parents to stay back because they don’t have enough staff.
  4. His best friend moved to pre school class (within daycare). You move class after you turn 3. He tells me everyday that he misses his friend.
  5. Most educators don’t speak English. As an immigrant living in English speaking country, I want my son to adjust well in school. I want him to speak English well and have the accent too.
  6. Daycare is just struggling to keep up

Now that we’ve found a daycare which seems to be good enough and offers more than his current daycare, I’m keen to make the switch.

But I remember how stressful his daycare journey has been. I don’t want him to struggle. Please tell me how I can make this switch easier on him?
