Why can’t people be transracial if they can be transgender?

This is a genuine question, I’m not trying to rage bait or like sound homophobic or whatever. Gender and race are something you’re born with. You don’t have a choice in which you’re assigned with at birth. So why is it that it’s socially acceptable for people to change their gender and not their race? (not saying they should be able to)
