6w5d: Slow-rising betas + low heartbeat + SCH — what are the chances?
TW: Previous Loss, Current Pregnancy
I’m finally 6 weeks pregnant after 12 months of trying following a second trimester loss and a chemical in 2024.
I am 6 weeks 5 days today, and it’s not looking good so far. I’ve had serial betas: • 11/18 (14 DPO): 325 • 11/20 (16 DPO): 712 • 11/22 (18 DPO): 1831 • 11/26 (22 DPO): 4476 • 11/28 (24 DPO): 5201 • 12/01 (27 DPO): 5353 • 12/06 (32 DPO): 6970
They started out doubling great and then slowed down a lot.
I went to the ER last night because my OB doesn’t have me scheduled for an ultrasound until 12/09, and I have brown spotting and left-sided pain. I was worried about an ectopic and assumed the baby had already passed.
The ER ultrasound showed baby measuring 5w5d (I know when I ovulated, so I should be 6w4d). There was a heartbeat, which shocked me — but it was only 89 bpm, so very low.
They also found a small subchorionic hemorrhage, which seems to be causing the spotting.
I see my OB on Tuesday. I feel like there is no chance this pregnancy will work out. I’m devastated, and I just hope this will not become another second-trimester loss. I’m 36 and I’m starting to feel like my egg quality is just bad.
