How to talk to doctor about worsening depression?
I am 33f and have anxiety and depression and possible ADHD. I take Sertraline 100 mg because more makes me too drowsy. I take adderall 25 mg and guanfacine 2 mg. I also take diflonac? Sodium? For neck pain due to bone spurs.
I have noticed my depression worsening over the last two months and I am getting scared about my mental state. I have an appointment in March and tried waiting but I reached a point where I thought I can't keep living this way so I got an appointment for Tuesday and now I am anxious that I will come off drug seeking or pathetic to my doctor.
Here are some of my symptoms and I would appreciate help on what my PCP may find relevant in order to ensure I do not take up too much of her time with unnecessary information:
-
I wake up with a deep sense of dread and sadness every day. It is also kind of a panic feeling, like when you dive under water and have a moment of not knowing which way is up
-
I have uncontrollable crying spells at least once a day
-
I am experiencing some anhedonia. Things that normally help me relax and feel happy just aren't anymore
-
Everything feels like it takes an inordinate amount of effort. Showering, brushing my teeth, getting dressed, calling someone... these feel like I am facing some epic challenge and I am left exhausted
-
I am always exhausted
-
I do not want to kill myself but I do wish I just didn't exist anymore, if that makes sense
-
I have been having thoughts of hurting myself so that I can stay in bed and not have to do anything. I have NOT acted on that but I spend a large chunk of my day wondering how I could hurt myself in a way to cause minimal permanent damage for maximal time away from life responsibilities
-
I feel hopeless. I do not know how to go on maintaining my life the way it is
-
I am scared of the thoughts I keep having as they are constant. Everything feels like a BIG DEAL
-
This has gotten worse over the past 2 months. It escalated very quickly. I have had persistent depression for a long time now but it hasn't been this severe in a long time and they last time it was this severe it had to do with very bad life circumstances that are no longer present. I do not have any life circumstances right now that would make sense for this kind of spiral
Does any of this seem relevant to bring up? Does this sound like depression or something else? Is there a chance of getting relief before things escalate further? Could any of my current medications be contributing to this? I started the Guanfacine about 3 months ago and Adderall in May.
Thank you for the help
