Catching feelings
Asalamu alaikum I’m hoping to get insight & advice on this situation. So over a month ago I met a man through a friend of mine who basically helps people become closer to Allah and their deen. My friend suggested I talk to him bc he helped her and she saw I was going through a hard time. So she told him about me and he reached out to me and we began talking almost every day on the phone and it is 98% deen-related conversations. Since meeting him, I have become much closer to Allah and my deen after having strayed for so many years. I am reading the Quran every day and educating myself about Islam as much as I can.
But about a week or so ago, I realized that I was having romantic feelings for him. I think about him a lot throughout my day and I look forward to our daily calls and hearing his voice even if we’re just going to have Islamic conversations. Sometimes we do talk about our personal lives so we have an idea of what we each have been through in life. We have never seen each other in real life, and only have seen 1 photo of each other (he saw my photo by accident bc it was my contact pic, and he sent me his pic one time bc I was guessing what he looks like). Besides that, there is no flirting or any inappropriate conversations between us. He is extremely respectful, intelligent, kind, and sometimes funny.
A part of me wonders, if what I am feeling about him is just delusional. Just because he’s been helping me? And there’s no way he feels the same about me. I am a lot younger than him (8yr age gap) and I think he just genuinely loves to help people. I don’t want it to get to my head. I’m not ready to stop talking to him because I’m really learning a lot from him but I also will not ever bring this up to him.
