Is a D considered passing?

I am about to end a class with a D and I'm very nervous. Is a D considered passing? I've heard that it "technically" counts but I'm not sure in what capacity. For reference I go to a community college and have one more semester left before I get my associates in science degree. If i get a D will it still count towards my associates? If It does not transfer to other colleges I understand but will it still work towards me graduating with an associates?
