Surgery tomorrow and no living will.
Location: NYC I am having non-emergency surgery tomorrow afternoon as a result of an injury suffered last week.
I have been healthy all my life, single, and still in my 30’s, so a will hasn’t been anything I’ve actually sat down to think about.
I have had a beneficiary for banking, but nothing about burial.
If, G-d forbid, this procedure goes south and I don’t wake up I want a Jewish burial — which is within 24 hours of death.
Anesthesia called me Friday to discuss details and asked if I have a living will—I simply said no.
This is extremely important to me. DNR, DNI, and a kosher burial.
Do I write this on a napkin and leave it in my pocket?
I don’t want to be cremated, embalmed, or buried in a non-kosher casket.
What do I do last minute?
Thank you
