Hair help!

So I (21f) was identifying as a trans man (ftm) for the last 7 years. I was on testosterone for 3 years, cut my hair, never got top surgery due to funds but now I have come to the conclusion that I am going to detransition due to personal reasons.

I’m currently growing my hair out from a buzz cut I got back in September and I am going to Basic Training for the Army in March. My hair is currently around 2 inches long right now and I don’t believe it will be long enough for a natural ponytail that’s in regs by the time March comes around.

I’m trying to look into extensions/braids but I know absolutely nothing about any of it and I’m looking for advice. I need something that needs minimal maintenance and is long lasting because I’ll be at BCT for 10 weeks. And I’m a white woman so if I go the braids route, it will need to be culturally appropriate for me to wear😭 Any advice at all would be fantastic! TIA!
