Non-media center remote control help

So I built an app for my pi that takes live youtube links and turns them into a virtual window. i designed it to be controled by simple keyboard commands. is there a simple remote that i can get that i can configure to map the keys to bsic keystrokes like esc, up arrow, left arrow, space, return, etc?

I was looking at the one i linked below, but to be honest, at this point im WAY out of my depth.
